Final Project - 2018

This is a log of steps in my final project at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design from Sep–Dec 2018

Planning: My starting point

Since my inspirations are a bit of a mixed bag, I will start by trying to uncover more projects like the ones above and read more about them.

I am finding it difficult to find footing in a particular problem area or domain.

For the visual thinking and type theme, I want my starting point to be Arduino + Typography/drawing. Maybe a 2-day project to see how far I can go.

Advisor call:

I had a call with Manu Dixit, my project advisor. I introduced him to some initial directions that I had in mind. He reminded me about the importance of keeping a documentation of my owrk at every step. He also supported my experimental approach for the next few weeks.

For the mental interface theme, he shared a link to an org called 'Backyard Brains'

The writing of Ralph Ammer is very inspirational. Some quotes:

How can we make ourselves smarter rather than the things around us?
What kind of design fosters resonance between people?
How can our communication designs reveal how our social constructions work and help to shape them?
...most of today’s digital products and services are driven by consumption and the promise of comfort.
